I have found multiple things in common with many of my classmates particularly the ones who chose to focus on technology and its impact on the learning environment. Christal’s question of how to incorporate online apps into the primary classroom to help aid learning a new language is most relatable to mine. I am focusing on a different age group, high school students, but we are both looking at how apps can improve learning effectiveness and engagement. I think I can share what I find about how social media apps can help with her and she can introduce me to any apps that she comes across that may involve math. My question also vaguely relates to Kaylee’s question about online classes as well. Although I am not focusing my research on online classes, I think after connecting the fact that online classes are technology and so are social media apps, we could share research so that I can make sure I am using the use of technology effectively in my ideas for how teachers can incorporate social media into the math class.

Some things I’ve found on Twitter that help me learn more about my post are multiple different statistics accounts that have so many numbers that can be used to teach math strategies (@statnews, @statsoffootball, @ESPNstatsinfo). Also looking at #highschoolmath has helped me get in the mindset of what is being taught in the math classroom and how it is being taught.

Because part of my question involves how Twitter can be used in the classroom, Twitter can help me find my direction by exploring what accounts are out their that contain statistics and other useful numbers that can be used in the math classroom. Combining those accounts with the strategies from teacher account who use technology and social media in the classroom should give me a good idea of some unique and fun lesson plans and teaching strategies.
